Thanks, Amanda. I debated with myself over "if" or "since" for "Seize The Dress". I chose "since" because in my story idea, Al is so deep in the closet, that no one would even think that he might actually put the dress/costume on. His doing so was an act of desperation. Of course ithings worked out for him as he wished because he made the long trip to Chicago for Vaingirl's "Long Lasting Total Beauty Makeover" to go with the dress. :-)

Jezzi Stewart:
"if" or "since"

That makes sense, if you had a different backstory in mind. Trouble is, with a cover like this, everybody's backstory is bound to be at least a little different; sometimes a lot different.

Regardless, I thought of a better reason to prefer "if": it's funnier. Timing is everything in humor, which is one reason to prefer the shorter, snappier word that reads more smoothly. Plus, the implications tweak the reader's expectations in such a way as to amuse.

Of course, I'm not trying to change your mind, or even the caption. It was just interesting how strongly I stumbled over that one word. I'm encountering the same effect in proofreading my new story, "The Interrogation" (coming soon to a website near you). I'm all about making the prose easy and smooth to read, so getting rid of the words I find myself stumbling over is important.

Wow! Thank you all. Just as I was getting really down, BOOM, an overflow of comments. Thank you again, ever so much! (Insert mental picture of the lovely* Miss Stewart executing a most graceful curtsey here :-)

Actually, I have finished all twenty covers from 1761 to 1780, so ai am going to post them here 7,7,6 about two days apart. Here's 1761-1767.

1761 - Setting Son

Original: Part of a Victorian corset ad from the 1880's - no other data was given.

I think "she" is going to be pants punished from now on. :-)

1762 - The Principal Of The Thing

Original: June and School Friend and Princess Library, Picture Library #458 ( I'm not sure whether this series is comics or magazines. I believe it's Australian)

Perfectly prettyfying the pitiful principle will pacify the petticoated pupils.

1763 - Punch Or Poison?

Original: Love Letters comics, #40

Females are not only more deadly than the male, but they're differently deadly, too!

1764 - Sissy Sentence
http://fictionmania.tv/stories/readhtmlstory.html? storyID=3243545914220617855

Original: True Adventures magazine, October, 1959

This was inspired by Ellie Dauber and Christopher Leeson's "Eerie Saloon" series of stories. I'm providing a link to the first of the stories; they're at Fictionmania.

1765 - A Sudden Dose Of Reality

Original: Millie The Model comics, #90

Whatever way to the top works!

1766 - Who's Clueless?

Original: I had a "hunt for photos with TG potential" day, and was following links and finding them so fast I gave up trying to keep track of what site each came from.

Teenagers and adults mostly seem to underestimate each other.

1767 - Belle Of The Ball

Original: My Romantic Adventures comics, #58

Just so he or she doesn't get his or her uniforms mixed up. :-)

Thank you Katy, Pyrite, and Maria. If any of you see one of my covers and feel the muse to actually write the story, please do so. Just give me credit for the cover and the idea. I might actually write the three "Old Fashioned Girls" stories of #1741, and "Patricia's Prank", #1776, which you'll get in the next batch.

Here's 1768-1774!

1768 - Double Ooh La La

Original: My Romantic Adventures comics, #12

I do apheresis blood donating, which takes about an hour and a half; while you are lying there, they will play a movie of your choice to watch. I did this cover right after a donation during which I watched the first Bond film, "Dr. No"; that was the inspiration for it.

1769 - Inspiring

Original: Girls' Love Stories comics, #117

"Stella" heard that confession by accident: What if she hadn't? And what about "Georgette"? I had originally planned the next issue as a FtoM story, but one fit in so well as an addition to this one that I went with something different.

1770 - XXcomunicated!

Original: True Detective magazine, could not find date

Whatever did the soon-to-be-Miss Stewart do to deserve such a fate? Taking a page from Vickie Tern, I think his ex-wife did it not out of animosity toward him, but simply to win a bet made with a girlfriend.

1771 - Employee DRESS Code

Original: "The Fair Toxophilites", painting by William Powell Firth, 1872

Okay, boys and gurls, "toxophilite" is your word of the week, keep track of the number of times you can work it into your conversations before we meet again. There will be prizes!

1772 - Sacrificial Manhood

Original: Girls' Love Stories comics, #128

A friend indeed is a man who would to lay down his manhood for a friend.

1773 - PRETTY Normal Men

Original: Lovers' Lane comics, #2

Except for the "man" in red, they all think the hypnotist is a woman.

1774 - Potter's Penance

Original: Ghost Stories magazine, May, 1927

As you might guess, I was performing in "It's A Wonderful Life" when I came across the original of this one.

Here's 1775-1780. I'll now post 1761-1780 on the main site, and go back to posting here in fives.

1775 - Whatever It Takes

Original: Sheet music cover, "I Never Believed In Angels Until I Met You", Robert F. Roden & Peter Derose, 1918

Hellloooo, nursey!

1776 - Rainy Day Woman

Original: Fashion plate in The Delineator magazine, June, 1905

The body language and expressions of the two - the tilt of the head of the lady in green and the "Who, me?" expres- sion and gesture of the lady in white - inspired this one.

1777 - Win-Win

Original: Rip Hunter, Time Master comics, #21

Can Circe handle being the "good girl" for a change?

1778 - Miss-judged and Miss-ed

Original: Romantic Adventures comics, #25

Another "Hell hath no fury..." issue!

1779 - A Love/Hate Relationship

Original: First Love comics, #9

Here's another one for my dear sister, Andi, dedicated to the authors of all the bad male boss to good she-male secretary stories out there.

1780 - Peerette Pressure

Original: Girls' Romances comics, #9

This one is dedicated to Annabelle Raven and her "Family Tradition" work.

Is Rainy Day Woman a follow up to Setting Son?

Maria: "Is Rainy Day Woman a follow up to Setting Son?"

Actually, the two males are quite opposite.

In "Setting Son", he (unnamed) wants to be a girl. Being punished/forced gets rid of the baggage of guilt over this, which is why he's constantly getting into trouble, but it'll all stop if his mother knows he's enjoying his girl time. However, since "she" is well behaved, it's to mothers advantage to let him stay a girl and only punish him when he acts unfeminine or as a bad girl; then the punishment will be that she has to go back to being he - pants punishment.

In "Rainy Day Woman", Milton has never cross dressed before and doesn't want to crossdress or become a woman ... or at least he doesn't know that he does yet. He and his sister, Patricia, and their mom have a pretty good three-way relationship, it's a rainy day, the two are bored, so Milton's being a good sport and going along with Patricia's "Oh come on, let me dress you up, it'll be fun!" When she see's how good "Lady Millicent" looks, however, she decides to push it to a much higher level and involves a giggling Ma-M, to get "her" to the ball "he" has forgotten is going to take place that night.
Milton is naturally upset, but has no choice but to go along with the masquerade. At the end of the evening, who will be there, a Milton who will NEVER allow himself to dress up or be dressed up again, Lady Millicent who wants to stay Lady Millicent, or a person somewhere inbetween? Buy the comic to find out. :-)
