TG Ads

While cruising through Lileks site recently, I stumbled upon this page. He's the one who noticed the transvestite angle, obviously, but I thought I could beat it into the ground. Then I went looking through his archives for more possible TG-themed ad work. Four samples:

TG Health Systems: On the one hand, it is easier to come up with a TG-themed ad because you don't have to worry about a "story." On the other hand, it's hard because you have to make it sound like a real ad, and real ads can be boring. So I stuck in some tasteless jokes.

Cunning #1: Please, no one hit me for giving this product this name. I hope it is reasonably clear what it is supposed to do, and why the poor fellow here is hoping his date doesn't walk into the kitchen. Science, however, is powerless to explain where the football comes from. Original image comes from here. I have no idea where Lileks found this image; he is using it and the one that follows as pages in a fake site detailing the history of the "Dorcus" clothing line.

Cunning #2: The text below the picture probably won't make much sense without the first ad to explain what the product does. Hopefully, the picture all by itself makes this one a winner. Original here, again sadly without a real explanation of WTF is going on.

Femolina: Trust me, Shirley Dimple was almost as insane in the original.

Great work (as always!), Seuzz. They're all superb, but I agree with Andi that Femolina is my fave.

And thanks for the link to a fantastic site I've never seen before. I immediately jumped to the comics section (have yet to look at the ads). Anyone ever heard of Jetta? I'd love to see more of her! And how about this one? TG everywhere!

I tried talking Andi into doing something with the Henry Aldrich a little while ago, but got no nibble. It's on my hard drive and I keep staring at it trying to figure out what to do with it. It is such a "speaks for itself" image, though. You only have to get rid of the "How to Confuse People" book and stick it under "Confessions of the Crossdresser" and it seems like you're done.

I did this a year or so ago from a 1945 ad for Kelloggs PEP cereal. The girl in the bottom panel is from a 1950 Pillsbury ad.
