It Rhymes With Lust!

As Chris at The Invincible Super Blog correctly remarks, the cover of this reprinted 1950 graphic novel should be captioned "Evil Transvestite Jimmy Olsen WILL SHOOT YOU."

For comic geeks, this is probably the FIRST graphic novel ever done (in the early 1950s). The whole thing was recently reprinted in THE COMICS JOURNAL (though in B&W and somewhat small). The story's not great, imho, but the art is by the sensational Matt Baker (artist of some of the recapped comic covers I did way back when). I'm a HUGE Matt Baker fan.

Apparently a deluxe full-scale color replica reprint edition just came out this week. Looks pretty neat.

The new edition (as mentioned on my blog) is a faithful reproduction as far as I can tell, but is more of a digest-sized paperback than a full-sized trade.

I don't really know how the reprinting in TCJ worked out, or what size it was originally, though.
