TGCaps Relaunch!

We're finally ready for the TGCaps Relaunch. Things won't be very different from before in terms of content, but the hope is that the site will be a more vibrant place going forward.

More details to come upon the relaunch. Just wanted to give people on the TGCaps Forum a head's up that we'll shut down this Forum sometime on Saturday (not sure of the exact time) and then the Forum will stay closed for a few days until the full site reopens.

Okay, we've relaunched!

As you probably already know, Lorna Samuels will be running the site. We've written a manifesto.

We also decided it was time to split apart the the TGComics and TGCaps Forums. They have been separate for the most part, but they have been running off of a single database, so folks who wanted to post here for the first time had to go to the TGComics website to register. A bit convoluted, for sure. Now the two sites will have separate databases.

All existing members have been ported over, but from now on, if you sign up for a free membership at TGComics, you'll also have to register at TGCaps if you have an interest to post on the forum (there's no registration required to view the images there).

Also ported over have been all Private Messages (PMs), but from now on, if you send someone a PM on TGCaps, it only shows up in their TGCaps account. They won't see it on TGComics (and vice versa).

Any questions or concerns, post 'em here (or make a new thread)!

What is the setup now for loading new covers etc.? Is Zen still the back-end?

Awesome! Thanks Femur and Lorna for your efforts. You folks are amazing, and I for one am so grateful for this site. The new site looks amazing, and it runs lightning fast on my computer, so way to nail it!

Love the newer set up and will be visiting more especially with the random images on the front page, do enjoy a good mixed bag of caps.

While I have used some newer colored photos for VG covers, mostly I have used older B&W photos or photos that were themselves covers of magazines or comics or contained on such covers.

examples below: 2018's original is a "My Little Margie" comics cover; 2026's original is, I'm guessing, a family photo circa 1900; 1981's originals are movie stills from the late '50's or earlie '60's; 2002's original is an early '60's "Australian Women's Weekly" magazine cover; 1990's original was an interior illustration for a story in a 1930's (from the fashions) magazine; 2029's original, anyone's guess, but probably 1940's or '50's I have also used old advertisements containing photos.

Can I continue to use such material? If so, I will refrain from using any post 1960's photo's in the future. Also my "Miles tribute" captioned photos thread in the Forum can be deleted if you so desire?

Jezzi, my luv, we've tried to provide full guidance for the new site's content in the new Manifesto. I'm inclined to let you use your own best judgement when contributing content.
Andi, Yes Zen is still the mgmt tool we're using. If you'd like to work with us on the new site let me know and will get you checked out.

That's a mistake. A setting got changed during the recent forum upgrade. Should be back to 8 again. Sorry about that.

There may be other glitches, so in my role as tech support, let me know and I'll try to fix 'em.

there's some spam in the forums (found on latest discussions category) the anti-spam plugin needs improvements

I'm happy with the return of the site, I hope it continues to grow each time but.
However things are still slow, but this is normal, and in the course of time returned to 100%
