The internet giveth, and the internet taketh away.

We've had a nice set-up here in terms of users uploading pictures on the TGC Forums, but unfortunately, there have been problems viewing the pictures in some browsers (Internet Explorer and Google Chrome are the main culprits).

We've come up with a solution that has just been implemented, so all the pics on the TGC Forums should now be viewable in every browser. But there is an unfortunate side effect. From now on, when you upload a picture, the filename will change. If you upload "sunset.jpg", its name will change. When someone downloads it, the filename will be something along the lines of "1035_1.jpg". The original filename is gone.

All of the existing uploaded pics of the TGC Forums have changed along the same lines. They now have the funky numbered names instead of the original name the file had when you uploaded it. (These funky numbered filenames are actually the names they've been all along, we just had a sneaky way of restoring the original filename that no longer works web-wide.)

Sorry about that, but it was the best solution we could come up with. To fix one problem, we had to break something else.

One way to make this more tolerable going forward is that, when you upload a file, be sure to fill in the "Name of the file" field. That way, there will be text below the thumbnail of each picture that appears in your post. It's not ideal, but at least you'll still be able to "name" your file that way.

I'm not so sure it's really the internet per se, but more likely something more nefarious is afoot.

Forrest Gump was right, "Stupid is as stupid does". If the idiots at M$ would stop embedding proprietary coding in their products, especially their junky IE browser, the world would be a whole lot better off. Thank God for reasonable Mozilla based Firefox or there would be no justice in the world whatever!!

OH, can you tell I HATE M$? Might hafta use their crap but don't have to like it!! And I'll continue to blame them even if they're not at fault. HEHEHE!

To this day I still love CP/M and Wordstar 7. The first time I use that cobble up abomination that is a clunker and they don't seem to fix anything just add more to it. My joke about windows is; should I buy Windows 7 or wait for Windows 8.
