We've seen recapped versions of Comic Books, Pulps magazines, Paperback books & magazines, however as far as I know there is one genre that has pretty much been left along.... Until now that is.

I'd call them the Hardly Boys, but South Park already used that one.

I don't know where you find these little jims, there interesting that this type of comic was done back in the forty's and fifty's I all way thought comics were done along the line of Superman and such. Show what I know. By the way the cartoon "I Got Plenty Of Mutton" in on DVD.

Here is a question for you. Do you know where in print or on the web where you can find some of the stories ? I did a web search but no luck. It would be fun to read one just to see the mind set of the writer back in the 30's and 40's

Books featuring The Vixens are so rare that some people believe that they don't exist at all. One rumor is that they are an elaborate hoax created by some Deconstructionists based in Belgium.

Recently there was an eBay auction for "The Shocking Stocking Smugglers", but it was halted after the bids had reached over $13,000 because it was said that the seller couldn't prove that they had a copy of the book.

More scandalous was a rare books auction at Sotheby's in April 2006. After the "Calico Catastrophe" had been purchased, scientific analysis showed that it was an extremely clever forgery. Since the forger is still at large, all claims of genuine copies of Vixen Boys books are now suspect.

[The last suspected sighting of the forger was in the audience at Tiffany's, a transvestite cabaret in Pattaya, Thailand.]

What about the hard-edged "Vixens: Case Files" reimagining from the 80s, featuring more explicit sex and violence? The one that begins when chum Wally is brutally raped and murdered by parties unknown? I always thought that was kind of a betrayal of the innocence of the original novels.

It's a good thing it didn't happen then, AND as this is MY concept I can attest that it "didn't," other than, I suppose, in the wet dreams of a few overly neurotic nasty woman hating violent bloody minded pervs.

I don't particularly like the implication - I was only trying to create a parallel to the Hardy Boys Case Files, which were more violent and sexual than the old novels. I read and disliked one of the Case Files books when I was a kid, and was trying to play along with the concept, wthout in any way endorsing rape, which I'm sure I abhor as much as you do. I'm sorry if I offended and that it didn't meet with your approval - it was certainly not my intention to glorify brutal rapes and murders, which are pretty standard fare in mystery novels (although not, of course, in the original Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series.)

Sigh, so easy to be misunderstood on the internet...

I hope you will accept fulg18's apology. I think it's clear there was no intention to "corrupt" your concept.

I don't agree that fulg18's response should have been a private message. I believe it was more appropriate for fulg18 to respond publicly.

Thanks,
femur
