Nice work, Amanda! Very exciting to see you trying these. One thought in terms of look and feel is that most comics of this era used ALL CAPS for the lettering, so seeing the lower-case letters looks like something of an anomaly. Also, I'd suggest avoiding using any transparency (like the black behind the caption on THE VISITOR).

Just a little constructive criticism, but overall, I'm loving these and hope to see more :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely take that on board. I may do more of these (no promises), but it would be a lot more likely if I knew where to find more panels like these.

I did google "romance comics" and poked around the web for awhile, but couldn't find anything interesting. (One of the major websites that used to have scans of entire comics seems to have been emptied of pictures.) What I liked about these panels was the act of dressing up (or disrobing), because what I'm really interested in is the act of transformation from male to female. (The third panel is different, but the girl's hypnotized expression was too good to pass up.) If anyone's got any tips, I'll certainly check 'em out.

One great site is Pappy's Golden Age Comics Blogzine. It's been mentioned on the TGC forum a few times because Pappy has posted a few TG comics. There are a few romance comics, but mostly weird, oddball stuff that might inspire some recaptioning.

Love that golden age art!

I'll also add Goldenagecomics. It requires registration, but it's got a ton of complete comics in the public domain.
