Ok, maybe technically speaking this maybe my second recap. I tried my hand at femur's second caption contest. After reading several posts about using old pulp covers as material I looked through several images and found this one. I am not sure about sourcing and how much editing can be done to the original image and still be a recap. Please let me know if this is good or not and how much editing can be done before an image is no longer considered a recap.

On separate note, I have to say doing this was a lot of fun.

Nice job!

If you start with a book or comic cover, I don't think there's any upper limit on the amount of editing for a "recap". It is only where I've assembled a "cover" completely from scratch, that I prefer the term "Counterfeit Comic Cover".

But it's the end result that really counts.

Superb work. I liked the way you handled the longer verbiage required to turn the cover into a drabble.

Well done!

It's great to see someone continuing to do recaps of pulp paperback covers. It was also nice to know that you were inspired by some of the posts in the TG Comics forums on modifying paperback covers.

You did a very nice job of cleaning up the cover and fitting the new text into the available space. I also liked your idea of a wizard as an artist--very imaginative and definitely not the usual TG universe wizard.

I hope that we will be seeing more pulp paperback modifications from you (and possibly some comic book mods as well?).

[This post reminds me that I haven't done any paperback mods in awhile. I've got plenty of covers sitting in my to-do folders, but I just haven't had the time or energy to do them. As Raina said, they are lots of fun to do, but they also can be challenging and time-consuming. Part of the challenge for me is that I like to try to do as little as possible to the text to turn it into a TG storyline. For some, however, such as my "Like Father, Like Son", I'll change the original by modifying the cover graphics as well as not using much of the original cover text.]
