Comics books with a photo on the cover I think are some of the hardest types of comic books to do recaps and other types of comic book modifications to. I turned a "
Calling All Girls" into "
Calling All T-Girls", and
BobH modified one of the "Calling All Girls" without changing the title. Jezzi Stewart also used
another cover from the same comic book title for one of her Vaingirls, but those are the only comic book photo covers that I can think of that have been used for TG recaps.
Janet Stickney has also used photos for some her 'new' titles: Ex-Men, T-Girl, etc.
Here's
Mr. Anthony's Love Clinic (Hillman, 1949)
#1. Originally I was going to do a typical Dear Abby-style topic, with something like "My guy likes to wear my underwear". The earnest look of the couple, however, made me decide to do something more serious.
It's interesting that the font for the "Mr Anthony's" and for the story title were exactly the same as the
Balloon font on my computer. The Wikipedia article says that the font has been around since 1939.
Unfortunately, the Grand Comics Database doesn't have any examples of the covers for the four issues of Toby's "
Dr. Anthony King, Hollywood Love Doctor". I wonder if they are similar to Mr. Anthony's.
My girl used to be a guy!
