other modifications.

Comics déjà vu. That gag seems to come in two variations. The first is the hiking one that the Candy cover used, and the other version has the boyfriend laden down with beach supplies. Here's

A suggestion: You might try AndiJF's
trick for perking up faded comic book covers. Her example used the free GIMP program, but there is a similar feature in Print Shop Pro (called Histogram Adjustment). PSP also has a Fade Correction. PSP's Fade Correction can often be too strong, so I often use the Histogram Adjustment first and then do a Fade Correction of somewhere between 50% and 75%.
