I've been looking to do a few recaps using horror and occult-themed comic book series. Here's my first one. It's Black Magic (Prize, 1950) v2#8 [14]. The cover is by Jack Kirby.

The next recap uses a technicolor L.B. Cole cover from Terrifying Tales (Star Publications [1949-1954], 1953) #13.

This one I'm not really sure about, so I'm inviting comments and critiques. If I do keep the current text, then I'll change "The Death-Fire" into "The Devil's Consort", and have the text in the bottom left end as "I will become..." [The Devil's Consort].

I like "The Devil's Consort!" How about a play on succubus - "I have become Succubette, the Devils consort!" That would give a hint about a service our ant-hero(ine) would have to eagarly and enthusiastically perform for/on old Lucifer :-)

Horror comics offer a lot of potential.

"The Devil's Consort" has almost too many ideas packed into it. Where do the African(?) tribesmen fit in? And why does Old Nick look so surprised and/or unenthusiastic?

Jezzi's idea of a "succubette" tickled my funny-bone. It would work particularly well in the context of a diabolical wager...

That's another reason that I haven't been sure about the recap. It shouldn't be too hard to 'erase' the tribesmen, and fill in some more fire where the one tribeswoman is.

And why does Old Nick look so surprised and/or unenthusiastic?

That look is the main thing that attracted me to the cover. I'd describe it as perplexed and a bit skeptical. The one problem that I have with him is that he looks more like someone in a Halloween costume, rather than Beelzebub, Prince of Darkness.

Horror comics offer a lot of potential.

The problem that I have with horror comics is that too many of them have the standard damsel menaced some hideously deformed creature.

Here's a recap of Web of Mystery (Ace Magazines, 1951) #6.

Very clever... A great effect from a simple change.

Thanks Andi.

This was one of those covers where I knew exactly how I wanted to recap it once I saw the cover.

After sleeping on it, I think that I should have enlarged the speech balloon just a bit. It just looks too cramped because I added an extra line to the text.

I decided that it was time that I did another horror comic recap. This is from the one-shot Tales of Terror (Toby, 1953) #1. The cover art is by Gene Fawcette (who at one time was the art director of Planet Comics at Fiction House).
