Nothing like a bit of usurpation to get a life back on track. ;)

More definitely in the works. I have a whole "history" of Chic Cooper mapped out.

Two scanned pages from Chic Cooper's only Bronze Age appearances, an amazing 8-part serial that ran in BETTY & ME #79-85.

Back when I was a kid I collected quite a few Archie comics along with all the DC and Marvel comics. Obviously the light-hearted comedic antics of the Archie gang lends themselves very nicely to your rewrites. But you'vie brought a remarkable style of your own that's more than a new look, but an entirely new attitude that abounds in elegant details that make your stories a joy to read. If they were actually in print they certainly would be in my comic collection. Hopefully there's much more from you still to come and for all your fans to look forward to.

Wow, Luv, thanks for the nice complement. Yes, there's more Chic Cooper to come (as well as the evil antics of Dilton Doiley, Jughead, and even Betty's Mom).

In fact, although I can't post it here (as I made it an exclusive gift for someone), there's a two-page "magazine article" I designed with Chic's entire publication history (40s, 60s, 70s, and 200s) worked out. The internal pages are the byproduct of my "research".

Currently I'm collecting panels for a another "article" concentrating on his 1960s obsession with wrecking his sister's life (out of sheer spite). I hope to have it posted here soon but only when I feel I can make it look as authentic as possible.

Other than that, it's really a matter of having the time these days.

But, anyway, again thanks for the nice words. After over 200 views in the last day or so but no new comments, I wasn't beginning to think people were finally tired of seeing my stuff (LOL).

Hugs!!!

From another thread--

> PS: I feel the same way whenever I post an Evil Archie. Lots

> I've lost my touch or people are bored with the concept. :(

EGF -- I for one love the concept. An evil tranny successfully impersonating Betty Cooper, the goodiest of goody-two-shoes, and trashing her reputation? What's not to love?

Oh, what >I< would do if I could successfully pass myself off as Miley Cyrus! Myuhaha!

Or imagine me passing myself off as Lindsay Lohan. I could act normal and so confuse everyone!

Question -- do you recap the original comics only, or do you photoshop them as well?

Luv --

Everything you see is done in Photoshop although I try to preserve as much of the originals as possible. For example, two of the three Betty pages in this thread have only had the dialogue/narration changed. The evil smiles and arched eyebrows were there to begin with!

But any image with twins has been 'shopped. Sometimes it's just a head stolen taken from another cover; sometimes it's an entire figure -- or more. To create Chic for Betty #175, I stole the body from one cover, the head from another, and then added the eyebrows. Originally it was just Mrs. Cooper standing in the doorway with a vacuum.

One reason I am not as prolific as my peers is I try really, REALLY hard to make the cover/art pages look as genuine as possible. But if you and other people appreciate the effort, then I'm happy to keep doing them.

HUGS!!

EGF

PS: You can probably expect another page of Chic as evil Betty this weekend.

Go Eva!

I've done several photoshopped covers, as well as plain-vanilla recaps, and it's the photoshopped covers that give me the most personal satisfaction. (The ones I've most proud of are two Green Lantern covers and a cover of "Force-Femmed Crisis.") When I make a comic cover that seems absolutely real, both in terms of its art and its writing, but isn't real at all -- ah, that feels good. I can't do Poser/DAZ comics, but I can do this.

I always wondered how much (or how little) the graphics had been altered. The edits are so seamless, I thought that only the words might have been changed. Great work!

I enjoy most Archie-themed recaps. What I haven't quite figured out is why the Archie gang is so popular in the TG community (myself included). Of course, it's been around (and popular) for so long that we're all familiar with it, so that's part of the answer -- but not the whole answer.

The whole answer is because it's really hard to photoshop superhero covers to make them TG. In each of my Green Lantern covers, in addition to all the photoshopping I did, I wound up drawing/painting stuff -- which doesn't have the same artistic excellence as the rest of the cover. My paintings within the photoshopped covers aren't big, and they hopefully don't draw attention to themselves, but they detract.

I would love to create via photoshop a Superman-Lois Lane bodyswap cover, in which Lois Lane is wearing a Superman costume and Kal-El is wearing women's clothes, but such a cover would require lots of painting, and so wouldn't look genuine (if I were the photoshopper).

I had hoped to get this one finished last week (along with some other stuff) but better late than never.

More Chic-as-Betty malevolence. :)
