731 - Probable pigtailed princess

Original: Candy comics #39

Sis is already planning a Disney Princess party for her new little sister's coming out! Attendance will be mandatory.

732 - Free at last!

Original: Strangers in Paradise comics #17

In the USA, eighteen is the age of majority for everything except drinking alcoholic beverages, One can legally have a sex change, vote, be drafted to go and kill people (and of course be killed by them) but not drink a beer.

733 - Cop to call gurl

Original: Gangbusters comics #53

The idea for this one came from Vickie Tern's story, "Whore".

734 - The check's in the male

Original: Girls' Romances comics #54

I always like seeing the tables turned!

735 - Empowered!

Original: Polly Pigtails, The Magazine for Girls #10

I was two years old in 1946, the year of this original. I'd say the girl is about 12 years old. It's proof of how fast society can change that when I was twelve in 1956, as I remember, no self respecting 12 year old girl would be caught dead reading a magazine like this one or looking like the cover girl.

736 - Heir ... ess

Original: Interior panel of a Katy Keene story in Betty and Veronica Double Digest comics #174

I actually knew a rich elderly lady who was constantly writing people in and out of her will depending on how well they catered to her whims or not. She was crazy enough to have gone along with a scenario like my character suggests. I don't know that she did, but maybe ... :-)

737 - Cheerful!

Original: Interior panel from Betty and Veronica Double Digest comics #174 ... This makes three covers I've made from the contents of BandVDD #174 without actually using the cover!

This would be an interesting story to write. How would the "boys" react upon their awakening? How about their parents? How would they learn to do the cheers? What would be the school's position? What about after the week was up?

738 - The Dark Ages: parents' version

Original: Strange Confessions comics #1

Even though the woman appears somewhat older than the teens, her body language and especially her expression just screamed "teenager" at me. I speak from 37 years experience teaching them. :-)

739 - It all adds up!

Original" My Inner Bimbo comics #1

I did this same thing in issue #120 using a Barbie comics cover as the original. The girl on this original was so much better for the theme, though. As before, thanks to Kimmie Oh's story, "Beach Bunni" for the inspiration. Viewing this cover, I realized that, besides Kimmie's story, I, myself, was an inspiration for my own cover. I'm including the back cover, #739back, as explanation.

739back - Backstory

Original: MY picture!

I belong to a writers group, and I got myself up like this to read aloud my story, "Bimbo Bread" at a meeting. The story was well received, and so was I, one member telling me that I couldn't have done better in matching my look to the story. (O.K., so I'm slightly older and plumper than I would like my hero(ine) to be; the guy was being nice.) You can find the story at the usual sites.

740 - Fated love?

Original: Wartime Romances comics #11

I think this one poses some deep questions: Do things happen for a reason? Is there Intelligent design, or are we only bits of evolved primal ooze intersecting at random? Awe, If I keep this up I'm going to start doing more superhero covers - Dark Bimbo, anyone? ... Let's go chug a beer and cheer on those Cubbies. - or sip a white wine spritzer and ooh and ah over "Say Yes to the Dress". :-)

Love these.

Free at last and the check's in the male are my favorites.
But the others are great also.

Excellent sets, Jezzi. "The Cheque's In The Male" has to take the prize for me, on the pun alone. And a guy who wears a horrid striped blazer like that deserves to be taken for every penny.

Hey, Jezzi.

I don't mention it often enough, but I always make of point of reading your work, and it's always worth reading. There's no higher praise! :-)

Interesting choices Tristra and Andi. Having raised two teenagers and taught thousands over 37 years, my own favorite out of these ten is "Dark Ages ..."
