726 - Pigtail Pals
Original: Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane comics #10
As I've mentioned before, I'm not really a superhero fan, so I have no idea whether Lana Lang actually loved both Superman and Lex Luthor. So sue me.
I did follow Thor and Dr. Strange for awhile, but my only real SH passion was for Howard the Duck - Donald with angst and attitude ... and pants :-)
727 - To be like other girls
Original: Interior page from Betty and Veronica Double Digest #174
I always wanted to be Betty. I like to think I'm Betty, allowed to grow up.
BTW, Archie seems to me to display the kind of behavior toward Betty and Veronica - and girls in general - that leads a lot of guys in TG fiction to be petticoated as a means of attitude adjustment. In the real Archie world, Archie's been in drag enough times (probably only Bugs Bunny tops him), I think, to either qualify as TG or be one of Vickie Tern's clueless males.
728 - Hit and run over
Original: New Heroic comics #70
In the original, the cop is supposed to be saving the little girl, but I thought from the first I saw it that he looked much more like he wanted to hit her - his right hand is even in a fist!
729 - Double-crossed lovers
Original: Patsy and Her Pals comics #11 (I suppose PandHP was designed as competition for Archie's Pals 'n' Gals)
Love sometimes comes about through the most unlikely - and often ironic - circumstances ... sort of like using Stalin to beat Hitler.
730 - Changed in a very long heartbeat
Original: Teen-Age Romances comics #13
On your left, the brunette just looks like she's giving a command. I think this would make a good story for someone to write.
