Thanks for the great feedback. Of course, I cannot take credit for the work, some anonymous Soviet artists did all the work, I'm just putting them up for people to see how narrowly we avoided disaster. Although it's true, the "It's Cookie!" series in the 60s showed that maybe those russkies were barking up the wrong tree after all!
"Time Patrol" seems to be the series most people are intrigued by. The basic Soviet message there was that the Americans would be humiliated and ruined if they sought technological supremacy so better to just turn in the test tubes and go back to the farm. My contact Svetlana, who used to work for the old Russian spy organization SMERSH (yep, it's real) has recently unearthed a few more covers of this, along with a map outlining the location of several treasure hordes left behind by the nazis after World War II. I told her she could have the treasure map, I just want the old comics and so the deal was struck. Sucker! What good are old paintings by Rembrandt? Museums around the world are stuffed with them! These comics, on the other hand, are unique!
Anyway, I will be scanning and publishing the covers as soon as they arrive. |
