A few I did earlier. The third one is the second time I've used that particular cover, as you may recall.

Long-time lurker, first-time poster...

Unlike others, I appreciate the time it takes out of your free time to maintain this site and am NOT asking for "more freebies" faster!

(Although I AM interested in the new School Daze story coming up...)

Just asking BobH and other posters... What fonts do you use to recaption the covers? It seems to blend in seamlessly and looks authentic!

(Kinda the point, eh? LOL)

GFan:

With my recaps I use Paint (yes, that little program that comes with Windows) to cut, copy, move around the original letters, so it *is* authentic. This leaves white spaces which I fill by copying and pasting in chunks of the original background of the word balloons.

'Science Fiction Romances' was originally 'Teen Age Romances'. I grabbed the 'Science Fiction' bit from another comic cover the adjusted the red background in Paint Shop Pro until it more or less matched the red of the romance cover the pasted it in.

Elsewhere on this site is my completely recaptioned story 'Bodyswap Romance'. In that instance I used the 'Comic Sans MS' font that comes with Paint Shop Pro.

A great source for nice comic fonts is Blambot. Nate Piekos creates all the fonts, some of which are used by comics professionals.

The nice thing is that there are many FREE fonts on the site. Check it out and see!

And BobH. Another great job. Love HE OBEYED... wow! Your cap fits the drawing PERFECTLY! I also agree with Sue that more Time Travel covers are a must!

I do my recaptioning with Paint Shop Pro X, and strongly second the recommendation of Blambot. In particular, I use the "Digital Strip" font for almost all of my basic dialogue balloon/narrative caption lettering.

A lot of people dislike Comic Sans, which is one of Microsoft's default fonts, and thus tends to wind up all over the place:

femur: I always try to make my recaps work for the expressions and
body language on the covers as well as for the situation. Glad it worked for you with 'He obeyed...'. I don't know quite why time travel popped into my head when I was looking at that particular cover, but when it did I really liked the idea of the beautiful redhead being the unit's hard-bitten sergeant.

And cool recommendation about Blambot, which I'd never encountered before. On suedenim's recommendation I've just downloaded 'Digital Strip'. I'll play with it a bit come the weekend.
