Have you ever taken on a cover that turned out to be a lot more work than you expected? And then wondered if the end result was worth it? I know I have, but I think Triple Demotion may be the new champion. I was attracted by the facial expressions of the foreground figures, but then I noticed that the original artist had drawn the woman's tunic buttoning the same way as the man's. Some research quickly proved this was incorrect. I tried to ignore it, but it just looked too weird, and in the end I felt compelled to airbrush the nurse's tunic to correct the error.

Do I take this stuff too seriously? Don't answer that!

I'm sure that I never would have noticed the difference. It just shows that you have a fine eye for detail.

Nice cap too by the way. :)

Hey, if Harvey Kurtzman had not obsessed over the details in the war comics he edited, such as in one instance delaying publication because one of the artist got the backpacks for the Confederate solders wrong, for EC in the 50's, making his comics come out only once every other month instead of every month like the others, Gaines would not have come up with Mad just to give him something earlier to turn out.

And without Mad Magazine think of all the second rate comics who would be out of a job without Mad TV!

(How's that for an obscure comic reference?)

I do the same thing, sis! The only quarrel I have with "Triple Demotions" is that I feel there were really two demotions and one promotion :-)

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Jezzi: Heh, yes... In one of the versions of this cover I did, the nurse's think-bubble read: "I always wanted to be a woman, but a 2nd Lt. and a nurse?"

The title was going to be "One Step Forward, Two Steps Back", but it seemed a bit clunky.

Are you kidding? That's the only sort of titles they used at Marvel in the 60's.

"Full Moon Rises, Hell Hound Hunts," & "We Get By With a Little Help From Our Friends" from Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD, and Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandoes respectively.

That's really good!

I understand Jezzi's observation; but I'll say I like the occasional cover where the change sparks resentment. It makes for variety, and here I think it fits in real well with the basic gag in the girl's thought balloon.

Time for another Bodyshift issue. This one has to take some sort of record for excessive text, even for me, but somehow the story just needed to be told. The beautiful singer, with so many eyes on her...

I like them both. Humor and a great story in each of them.

You should write "Everybody wants a Piece of Me", sis! The cover raises all kinds of questions.

Perfect ending: Make Compulsive Gambler Guy don the bodysuit.
