Jet Dream is back, with the super-deluxe Giant-Sized Jet Dream 1970 Annual!

For some reason, I seem to have the opposite problem of most recappers. I have lots of stories in mind as possibilities for recapping, but I have a heck of a time coming up with suitable covers! Thus, I was happy to realize that DC's old "80-page Special" format

Here's an exclusive preview of our newest, oldest, "Pre-T-Girl" sensation from the fabulous '40s, the fantabulous Jill Trent, She-Sir Science Sleuth! It may be an old story, but, heck, we think Jill was already acting like a modern-type T-Girl!

Look for the full story soon in the Jet Dream 1970 Annual!

Jill Trent -- Love, love, LOVE it!

Wow, Sue, I wish I could write dialogue that snappy. You've got the gift of screwball comedy -- if only you'd been born 50 years earlier!

Love Jill's devotion to science. Love her putting turning back into a man on hold because there's a war on. Love the throwaway lines like "Duck, Daisy!"

Get me a dose of femavium. NOW!!!

It's a little known fact that several theatres of conflict during the Second World War (e.g., the North Africa campaign) were actually fought to obtain Femavium!

One funny thing, though - that "Duck, Daisy!" line? Not mine - it's actually in the original story! (As a shortcut, I'll sometimes leave in a line that works well, and the lettering is better than mine.)

Ha! That's even funnier! And it's still a great throwaway line!

The original Jill Trent stories are pretty neat, actually, with a lot of fun and/or weird stuff going on. In this story, one bit that truly boggles the mind is how Daisy somehow manages *not* to catch the bad guy on the last page, but overshoot him by a mile. She isn't overtly written as a "klutz" character, but she sure seems to be one!

Another peculiarity is that Jill and Daisy basically are just as violent as male heroes would be. None of the "feminine" methods yo

Here's an exciting preview of the My Jet Dream Romance feature from the Jet Dream 1970 Annual!

Meet Rex! He's a young man from the wrong side of the tracks, a military school dropout, spending long hours waiting tables at night to make ends meet, after long days taking classes. But he's also one of the most beautiful Elle-Boys around, and dating

While Rex's tale of romance gets finished up, enjoy this word from our sponsors!

It's Cookie! And She's Got Fruit Piesl!

Hard ta believe, but over a year after the above scintillating preview, our new tale of TG romance is up and published! Peruse, if you dare, "If an Heiress Date a Waitress, Whence Goeth the Elle-Boy!"

I'm always impressed by Sue's modified comics. So much harder than just modifying a cover, and Sue has a fine ear for dialogue.

Thanks, Andi, glad you like it!

Here's another page from the 1970 archives! Occasionally, TGC would spotlight one of the high school "Jet Teen Squadrons" that fully embraced the "Fem Is In!" lifestyle.

Of course, as the attached page shows, they also weren't above using this feature to pitch the Elle-Boy-friendly retail chain owned by TGC's publisher!

Is anyone out there still reading? I've been thinking about starting the next story from the 1970 Annual, but can't make up my mind on whether to do:

  • "All-Out T-Girl Action!" - another "Jet Dream Classic" type story.
  • "Ting's Un-Possible Tales" - a redone "X the Unknown" story as a "What If" type thing about "What If the T-Girls all lived in Europe and got turned into girls during WWII?"
  • "Petite Flies Solo!" - As suggested by the title, a solo Petite story (recasting the lead of the "Girl from UNCLE" comic.)
  • "Fashion Fun With Cookie" - more It's Cookie! comedy antics.
  • "Harmony's First Week As a T-Girl" - the most ambitious notion, about how Harmony learned to accept being a girl. The pages would be pieced together from "Diana Prince, Wonder Woman" material, but would take a lot of restructuring to make them fit this story.
  • Or maybe just another "Jill Trent, She-Sir Science Sleuth" story, as I've kinda fallen in love with that character.

Any of these look appealing?

I'm starting to wonder if, in general, I'm just writing this stuff for an audience of Me, and whether the "Goofy Silver and Golden Age stories with a TG twist" is too nichey even by niche standards. I wonder if the people who would otherwise enjoy the weird pastiches of old comics tropes get turned off by the TG content... and the TG enthusiasts basically aren't interested unless the TG elements are highlighted more, and more explicit in content.
