The first time the phone rang it was Cardholder Services: "There's no problem with your credit cards at this time, but ... The second time the phone rang it was a political survey: In the next election would you vote for ... The third time the phone rang it was the village: Your street will be closed for repairs for the next ... After the 17th call, he ripped the phone cord out of the wall socket and threw the phone across the room, shattering it. HE, past caring that HE still looked like an attractive woman, stormed out of the room, went across the street to the neighborhood pub where SHE drank into the wee hours of the morning. Thus she never got the 18th call, which was from Marlee who wanted to tell her that everything could be undone, but it had to be done before midnight otherwise there'd be some mental changes and a six month wait.
