Hunting Season

“The Season” was the time of year during the 18^th, 19^th and early 20^th centuries when proper aristocratic families (known collectively as “The Ton”) scattered over England moved to their London homes and put their single daughters on the marriage market in a series of balls, concerts, park outings, etc.. This was run by the mothers of eligible daughters – the predators – and of eligible sons – the prey.
