The Quick-Change Artist
The first appearance by Vladimir Zucco, archcriminal who changes men into women (and vice versa) for fun and profit. Here he appears as a scheming "quick change artist," but he eventually metamorphosed into a somewhat more plausible doctor and scientist. Subsequent appearances include Nos. 132 (modcover); 174 (modcomic); and 480. In the 1940s and 1950s the character even got billing in pulp paperbacks, including Surgery for Sissies and He Made a Man Out of Me.
